Athena DIH is part of and building upon the activities of Athena RC, a leading research center in Greece, operating in three key-areas of the country, Athens (capital), Xanthi (Northern Greece) and Patras (Western Greece).
Athena RC specializes in Data, Information and Communication Technologies and covers the research and innovation lifecycle end-to-end. Its several Research Institutes, Units, Spin-off companies and particularly its dedicated innovation-support Unit (Corallia) create a fertile technological innovation ecosystem and intensify systematic efforts to bring to market research and technological results.

Athena RC conducts outstanding research in Informatics and Computational Sciences with substantial social impact, addressing both global challenges and local needs. The Corallia unit organizes and facilitates three innovation clusters mi-Cluster (nano/microelectronics-based systems and applications), si-Cluster (space technologies and applications), gi-Cluster (gaming and creative technologies & applications), that constitute significant pillars of the entrepreneurial discovery process in Attica.
